Fish Shop, Spider and Supper

25 Jul

Opposite the Zed Shed in Penryn where we sing on a Thursday morning is a fabulous fresh fish shop – with a sense of humour.

Ark, do you recognise this tiny spider?

I treated us to Scallops from the fish shop (as well as hake for another evening.)

Looks like a Green Orb Weaver.
I’ll ask my mate, Pete Hillman to confirm it for you.

Thank you, I like both names. Not much of a mouthful though! 🙂

Vini, Vidi, Vici. That’s all the Latin I know, I’m afraid. I did French at school.
I came, I saw, I collected conkers. …. or something like that, yes?

Lol! 🙂 I only did French, too. The ‘sensu lato’ basically means in broader terms … especially with this species as there are two species which are virtually indistinguishable.

Did we ever find that mouse under the tableau? That’s all I seemed to learn in French classes, about mice and tables … and counting to ten which I still remember , amazingly!

So, I’m guessing Edith Piaff will go right over your head?

I guess she would if she had a brolly like Mary poppins 😉

‘La plume de ma tante’ sticks in my head. Why would we learn about my aunt’s pen? Bonkers – which takes us right back to the spiders which I gather from Jude is another name they are known by! 🙂

Thank you and your pal, Pete, for the id. It’s a really pretty little thing and we’ve never seen one here before. 🙂

The site I found made mention of them in Essex, but not in Cornwall, so I put two and two together and realised it must be on its hols.

I see lots of them in my garden – in Cornwall! So they must be permanently on holiday 🙂

I guess they must be retired then, on permanent holiday- lucky creatures! 🙂
