From the kitchen this morning we could see the bees on the Poppies. I took the photo on a very long zoom.
On our walk around the Flat Lode Trail, we saw lots of these little puffy blue flowers. Can anyone id them?

The little blue flower is a scabious possibly Devils Bit Scabious – a real beauty which grows on the verges of the lane we live on.

Ark is right. Sheep’s-bit (also called ‘Sheep’s-bit Scabious’) The wildtrust organisation is a good site for IDing wild flora. https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/wildlife-explorer/wildflowers/sheeps-bit
There is a similar one Devil’s-bit Scabious and also the Field Scabious! All very confusing, but all slightly different 🙂 You usually see the Sheep’s-bit on Cornish hedges by the coast.

I must do some of the Flat Lode trail some time. Probably during the school holidays when the beach car parks are ridiculously full.

It’s our ‘out-of-the-door’ walk when we don’t want to drive anywhere and we love it, especially the 40 mins version! There are views of Carn Bread the North coast on a clear day. 🙂

Any suggestion as to where to park and start a walk from? I’m thinking my son might enjoy it whilst he is recuperating, if it is flat.

I would suggest here but it is definitely not a flat walk. I was unable to do it when I was recuperating and needed flat walks. Then we walked at Hayle or Gylly Beach. It’s downhill then flat then very steep then sloping then quite hard downhill!

Flat Lode trail seems a misnomer for walkers but Flat Lode apparently is the low angle of the lode of tin/copper ore. 🙂

Very useful link, thanks again. It’s good to know what that flower is. We had never seen it before but gather that it is common around here so don’t know why it has escaped our attention before. 🙂
