The Suitcase Singers, Decorated Trees and An Angel

13 Dec

My choir, The Suitcase Singers, were due to be recorded for a TV programme this morning. I have missed so many of our choir events this Christmas and did not want to miss that! Our lovely choir leader gave permission for me to go along and mime so that is what I did! The lovely Mr S dropped me at the door and picked me up at the end. It is to be on ITV at 6pm on 21st December as part of a programme about typical Cornish Christmas celebrations. Here we all are in Penryn Town Hall.

The Suitcase Singers – thanks to J for taking the photo.

The lovely Mr S had a plan when he picked me up and I was whisked away to have lunch at Falmouth Pavilions where the annual Christmas tree event was in full swing.

One Angel caught my eye.

Pretty angel

A question for my fellow Bloggers – has anyone tried the new editor, Gutenberg? I am about to renew my (expensive) subs to WordPress and am concerned about the complexity of the new editor. I’ve given it a run-through and didn’t take to it though that was just a brief try. If it’s going to be a pain rather than a pleasure, it may be time to call it a day or maybe I just need to spend some time re-learning!  I’d love to know what other Bloggers are thinking.

I’m with you both on the editor business. ( except if I want to post a slideshow)
And I use a non sub theme – and have a habit of changing once a year or so.
Why do pay subs Sally, if I may ask? What do you find are the ( presumably) benefits?

I ran out of space and went from free to the next level. Then I ran out of space again and moved up to Business even though I am in no way a business! I decided that this is my hobby (and much cheaper than running a boat!), I love doing it and communicating with other bloggers, it helps me to have a positive outlook and it’s worth the £240 a year. However, if Classic goes, I may well go too. 🙂

Ran out of space? You mean from uploading photos?

Do you resize your images? I think I have used about 70% on my longest blog (2013) which has a lot of photos. When it gets full I shall just create a new free blog and carry on – I have found that people who matter will follow you to a new blog. And I don’t post videos.

I have encountered this issue before as well.
I simply went back to some of the older photo blogs and deleted them.
I store all the photographs on several flash drives and one can use Cloud as well I believe , though have never tried this.
Also, cropping them in paint reduces the file size to a couple hundred KBs.

I gave Gutenberg a try to and hated it, bu then I don’t use the latest editor either.I have stuck to the original classic editor which you can find through WP Admin. As I have not paid for an account I don’t know if this is available to you, but it might be.

That’s reassuring actually. I never moved to the new editor either as I found it fussy and irritating. Will the Classic still be available do you know? Thank you for commenting on this problem. 🙂

As far as I can tell it will be available until 2022 so we’ve got a few more years!
