Chinese Deity, Embroidery and Peeler

13 Nov

Our lovely neighbour is home again after being away in China for a month where she and her brother have been constructing an amazing sculpture, the Chinese God, Thousand Mile Eye.

Sue brought us home presents –  a beautifully embroidered scarf for me and a super sharp peeler for Mr S.

Isn’t it? We didn’t see this one developing in next door’s front garden. Check out this website to see more. http://www.peteandsuehill.co.uk/ 🙂

They also made the Mud Maid and the Giant in The Lost Gardens of Heligan. It’s very exciting living next door! 🙂

Using local bamboo and forest vines, plus recycled bicycle inner tube, re-purposed scaffolding ties and mooncake tins, we made a 6 metre high sea god; Thousand Mile Eye, protector of fishermen, compassionate guardian of Shalowan village. A thousand thanks to our co-builders – Chao, Wai and Petambar. And also to the wonderful people of Shalowan and the crew of AFTEC. We had the best time…

      Cheers 🙂
