My sorting goes on. Today I came across Mum’s budget book for the year I started at Truro Grammar School for Girls. Note the gym slip, tie and cap, the science overall, the fabric for homemade dresses, the hockey boots and in the summer both a swimsuit and gloves! There are pages for my younger siblings (my older brother had left for University), for Mum’s clothes and Dad’s, much less spent on them than on me. It was an expensive time, starting a new school and we were not well off by any means.
