Dawn, Books and Truths

01 Nov

Drawing back the curtains this morning revealed this pretty sky, seen through a rain spattered window and taken when I was barely awake!

Dawn colours

I’m taking part in a Books I Love Challenge elsewhere and thought I would post the same ones here, no reviews or explanations for the challenge. It would be lovely if you would share books you love in the comments. I’m always up for another book to read!

Not Without My Daughter by Betty Mahmoody

Like Ali, The Mindful Gardener, who takes comfort from her garden in this uncertain and worrying world, I take comfort in finding the beautiful things that are around us all but that sometimes we have to search for. I love these words from Archbishop Edmund Tutu:

We are each made for goodness, love and compassion. Our lives are transformed as much as the world when we live these truths.

Been a bit behind on your posts. Literature, like any art form, is so often highly subjective.
However, as you asked so nicely!

I am a great fan of Pratchett so …

    Going Postal,
    Night Watch
    Making Money
    Johnny and the Bomb.

    Piers Anthony:
    God of Tarot Trilogy.

    Tom Sharpe:
    Wilt.
    The Great Pursuit

    Stephen Donaldson:
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. The first 2 trilogies (6 novels)

I’ve read lots of Pratchett’s novels too and loved them. I will look for the Piers Anthony trilogy which sounds like my thing. Have you ever read Bruno Lipshitz and the Disciples of Dogma? Another good read. Thank you for adding to my pile to be read! 🙂

Never heard of this author, to be honest. I shall look out for him on my travels.

John Robert King wrote the Bruno Lipshitz novel. 🙂
