Good News, The Song and The Sky

21 Jun

Yesterday’s blog was exceptionally brief.

Just as we were preparing to sing ‘Lean On Me’ at the World Refugee Day event, I heard that my older brother and his wife, on their way from the airport to be with us in Cornwall for a family reunion, had had a car accident, their car written off and they in the Royal Cornwall Hospital.  You can imagine how I felt, out of phone signal and ten miles from home. Eventually we managed to be in contact and have since learned that my SIL has three broken ribs and my Brother is fine, though shaken. The beautiful thing is that they are both still with us. We have yet to see them since their arrival but did meet with their son, his wife and two beautiful children last night. Having them in last night’s audience was a comfort indeed as were my lovely friends, G, D and R to whom I say, thank you for being there, for me to lean on.

Today the sun is shining, it is the Summer Solstice, the Longest Day  and we are preparing for Saturday’s gathering of the clan from Germany and America, London, Norfolk and Exeter. Sadly, my Sister from Hawaii cannot be here and neither can our Barcelona bunch but they will all be here with us in spirit.

Our performance yesterday is now on YouTube. Do have a listen.  After only 3 rehearsals, the community of Porthtowan came together to raise money for refugees by performing at the open mic session in the Blue Bar. ‘Lean On Me’ by Bill Withers, arranged by Claire Ingleheart.

The hand you will see pointing at 1’21” is my Great Niece  pointing me out to her parents who are in the foreground for most of the video.

Today’s sky has been beautiful!

They are recovering, thank you, though at 78 years old, an accident like that is quite something and takes some recovering from. xx

I’m glad the accident wasn’t serious and everybody is ok. Very scary. Enjoyed hearing the song, thank you for sharing it.

Thank you. It was great fun singing the song and very moving to be singing it all together in solidarity with refugees all over the world. 🙂

Thank you. It’s P&V’s Silver Wedding. They were married in the Chapel at Truro School and honeymooned in the Water Tower! 🙂
