On this day in 1909, my Great Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Wiseman, Suffragette aged 53, was arrested in London having thrown stones to break windows. Subsequently she was imprisoned in Holloway, went on hunger strike, was force fed and was awarded the Suffragette Portcullis Brooch in recognition of her courage.

My garden in quite wet though and windy, though I expect the wind wouldn’t cause concern as they are quite small flowers. I shall give them a go and see what happens.

Our garden is very wet this year and our garden is windy but the Fritillaria are in a small wall garden that is reasonably sheltered. Good luck with your planting. 🙂

I was convinced the bulbs I planted last autumn would rot, but they have come through. I still wonder if I should be creating a bog garden. My lawn was like a sponge last month!
