What a Difference a Day Makes!

03 Mar

After four freezing snow and wind-filled days, first there was rain to melt most of the snow and then glorious and truly warm sunshine so off we went for a walk along the coast at Godrevy. It was a gloriously peaceful walk given the past four rather fraught days.

Leftover snow and the Godrevy lighthouse

Haematopus ostralegus, Oyster catchers on a rock with Gulls who have just landed

From Godrevy across to St Ives in warm winter sun

Seal – look at his whiskers!

We met a beautiful dog who was having a wonderful time dashing about but who stopped and posed for us when asked by his owner!

Jake, who is blind

Your Beast from the East made the news here. Glad it has passed and you’ve gotten your spring back!

Gotten our Spring back indeed, both seasonal and in our bodies now there’s no danger of slipping over in the ice! 🙂

I learned to shuffle on the ice like they teach UPS drivers. Kind of like Tim Conway doing the old man act on the Carol Burnett show !

Shuffling sounds the way to do it! I’ll remember for next time it snows in Cornwall. It’s 7 years since the last proper snow so I may have to remember that for a long time! 🙂

If you’re lucky! (This winter was strange though…)

Beautiful, beautiful Cornwall! So glad it’s warming up. I was curious what kind of heating you have–steam? Gas? Electric? You talked about a plumber and a boiler. Glad that problem is resolved.

It’s a condensing gas driven boiler and the condensing pipe froze solid! Then, when it was thawed, all 5 meters of it, the power went off and there was no spark to light the gas! All is now well though the log burner has developed some kind of problem so we can’t light it until the man has been on Monday! It’s a good job the central heating is back on. 🙂

Glad you’re experiencing a warm up . . . and happy to hear that Jake’s blindness doesn’t stop him from enjoying a frolic!

It was so lovely to see him having fun. His owners were very happy to talk to us and tell us all about him. 🙂
