Narcissi, Botallack and Lamp-posts

01 Feb

There were some beautiful locally grown flowers on our breakfast table before our drive down the coast towards St Just-in-Penwith via several old tin workings with their iconic buildings that scatter these moors and much of Cornwall’s landscape. It was a bright but bitterly cold and windy day with the odd rainbow and hail shower to keep us on our toes! We had lunch in the Cook Bookshop in St Just and were very taken with the delightful flower painted lamp posts in the small town.

The Crowns at Botallack

Diary entry dated Saturday July 17th , three days into our Suffragette’s Hunger Strike,  has been published. She is becoming weak and weepy but will not be deterred.

The best lamp posts in the world no doubt! What a brilliant idea.

Delightful aren’t they? What a splendid idea and there are many more than I showed, each with a different flowering plant that. grows locally. 🙂

The Crowns at Botallack…..am sitting here staring at that picture. Waiting for little people to come out and wave at me. A magical photograph for me, thanks.

It is just such a building feat isn’t it too, on the edge of the cliffs and in the 1800s – quite remarkable! Very happy that you found the photo magical. 🙂

Love the imaginative lamp-posts – they must have a really creative town council !!!

You must be right. There are a lot of galleries in the little town and a mural on one of the walls so I think the people would have been very pleased to have more art. It really is charming. 🙂

Oh, I do like the Cookshop. Should have gone out today too, but it was sooo cold! I don’t recall those lamp-posts the last time I was in St Just, they are very pretty.

Looks like a Poldark landscape. Waiting impatiently for the next season to be released.
