Signs of Spring and A Door

10 Jan

Walking up from town today we passed a couple of gardens where Spring was beginning to show – a Crocus in bloom and a Daffodil about to do the same.

First Crocus

Early Daffodil

I am having to use my camera phone as my camera has broken – my new camera, bought in October. It let me down before Christmas and I have been struggling on since, feeling very frustrated. I kept getting a ‘lens error’ message so we went to Exeter last week to take it back, under warranty, and it is being sent back to Canon. I am not happy about it! Apparently this is a common error so I am awaiting their response. I am looking for another camera – outrageous I know but I am lost without a decent camera and repair, even if they agree to do it, could take 3 weeks or more! In the meantime, I am using my camera phone and not happy with the results so here I go again, researching the possibilities. I loved my old Nikon and may get another…….

We passed this door on our way up the hill – Christmas still here!

Spring! Spring! Spring!….what a tease. Is this common this time of year? I’ve only been in the UK in May.

Having just driven across three provinces, there and back (fyi, driving to Florida would have been closer). Most if not all of it under miserable conditions (not complaining, Canadians I think expect and except the challenge). Spring here all but fantasy. Lucky you. If global warming continues, perhaps wee Canucks will be traveling to the UK for our winter vacations instead of the Caribbean. Any signs of palm trees sprouting willie nellie ?

Resorting to phone -one does what one must. No worries we get the picture regardles of the hardware.

It is still very wintry further North and the forecast is for it to get much colder even here in Cornwall next week but there are lots of smiley pointers to Spring. There’s a snowdrop just about to open in our garden…… and the Dracaena Palms are looking very healthy. 🙂

Always good to see signs of spring in the winter cold.
    Hope!

Annoying about the camera. My new Olympus had a fault, but I thought it was a fault with a particular lens until it started happening with every lens. Bought from JL and they were very good about getting it repaired though it did take several weeks. Luckily I still had my old bridge camera to use – a phone is not the same! I have been looking for signs of crocuses in my garden but nothing yet, though I do have lots of bulbs I planted in pots poking above ground. Exciting to see new life!

It is isn’t it? What I’ve seen so far is in other people’s gardens though, looking this morning, there are lots of green shoots in our pots too. Flowers can’t be far behind.
I’m hoping I’ll hear about my camera soon but in the meantime, at least I have the one to borrow from my lovely friend. 🙂

We have several cm of snow at the moment so it’s nice to see these pictures.

What a shame about the camera specially so new. The daffodills are early. I can see some bulbs coming up even here, very small still. I need to take a picture soon.

Yes, we have some green shoots but I have spotted actual blooms on the roadside! Very pleasing but impossible to get a photo. 🙂

Good luck sorting out the camera issue. Those spring flowers must be impatient for Spring’s arrival.

I took it to Exeter a week ago and have as yet heard nothing – maybe today…….
