Sarcococca, Hydrangea and Blackberries

29 Oct

On our walk this afternoon a strong perfume caught us and we followed it to a Sarcococca bush – just glorious. We are agreed that we need one in our garden. It is also known as Sweet Box.

Next we came across a beautiful blue Hydrangea, lovely on a grey October day.

Just the best blue

Coming home again, we found Blackberries and they were still juicy and sweet. I took the photo after I had eaten the best ones!

With nights going below 0C, blooms have been reduced to brown. And Autumn colours due to lack of rain has made Fall a lack lustre event at best. Good for you that such things still exist. No berries here either, but I still have yellow beets and purple carrots in the garden. And the only fragrance is that from the large scale dairy farmers spreading honey on their fields -and I don’t mean honey either if you get my drift..

I’ve never heard of Sarcococca ~ but I love fragrant plants. One of my faves = honeysuckle.
