Bee, Verbascum and White Strawberries

25 Jun

It is good to see bees busy on these Summer days.

I love the peachiness and furriness of these Verbascum flowers.

Verbascum

What a feast for supper tonight! Our lovely neighbour came in to share our roast chicken and brought with her a cornucopia of fresh produce from her allotment – new potatoes (which I cooked with mint and butter), broad beans (for which I made a creamy white sauce), a courgette (which I fried in butter with lemon zest) and White Strawberries for our dessert. I think they are lovely with their tiny red seeds and they certainly taste good! The birds don’t recognise them as ripe so they survive!

Sweet treat!

Aah .. summer ”up north”. Getting a tad chilly down here!
Though there are still a few tomatoes growing oddly enough) and chillis, and the cabbage don’t mind the cold, so if worse comes to the worse we can be like Charlie Bucket and eat watery cabbage soup.
    Nice bee!

We’ve had our longest day and are slowly heading for shorter days! Your days must be on the turn for longer……. More stuff growing, not just cabbage before too long. 🙂

We still have July and August (our windy month) to get through and they can, and usually are bitter.
But we still have blue skies and sunshine.

Blue skies and sunshine sound good to me. Cornwall is very beautiful but is quite often overcast as today, never very hot and never very cold. Glorious days are all the more beautiful for their unexpectedness! We also get a lots of wind. 🙂
