I’ve been kind of hibernating for a couple of days, so tired from the show and catching up on all sorts of things that I’ve been ignoring for months! The first photo is from the end of the show party where those who had been instrumental in making it all happen were recognised. The photo is a bit blurry but I love the expression of delight and friendship between me and Claire.
Another not so good photo as I took it from the moving car and caught the window edge – but wanted to show you this glorious new thatch which we have been watching develop over the last few weeks. It isn’t a good place to stop but if I can I will get the whole cottage soon.
This last photo was taken through the window and is another for interest rather than quality! Zorro, who lives next door, seems to be finding the bright Crinodendron quite fascinating.

You certainly have earned some hibernation time! You are a whirlwind!
I have never seen a thatched roof in person. They seem so fairy tale- like to me, and it makes me happy.
I agree with sarthe about your writing. I would most definitely buy your book.

Hi Sally, I have so much enjoyed your details of the production. I always said you should write and I’m not sure how much you wrote for this but it seems that you were a driving force. Your father’s talent is in you too. I would have loved to see it but I am sure that so many people must have enjoyed it . Perhaps you should use this as a starting point for writing more. I look forward to your post each day and it has become a positive par of each day. Thankyou, and remember what if you ever fancy a break in France we always have a room. .love, June.

Hello, thank you for that and sorry for the delay in replying. I was indeed a driving force in the production and found it a brilliant experience. I loved all the research and did write one of the stories. It was a lovely feeling to hear my character, whose life I had researched and documented, coming alive in the production. Mandy, who took on the part, took on the character so thoroughly. She read all my research as well as the script and really brought Mary to life.
As part of our evaluation we are writing a How To guide for others to use in their own graveyards and will offer ourselves as consultants, no fee! So many people have said, “Please come and do this in our village.” I couldn’t take it all on again as it was exhausting as well as brilliant fun but I’d be happy to help others.
As for writing, two of the professional writers on our team also said I should do more but there are so many things I want to do and writing is usually rather solitary which doesn’t really appeal. We’ll see.
All the very best to you. France isn’t on the agenda right now but we do keep saying it’s time we went back and we’d love to see you both again so who knows? Having family spread so far and wide tends to determine our destinations!
