Thistle, St Ives and Smiles

07 Oct

I love the delicacy of this white thistle.

The beauty of St Ives never fails to move me. We were there tonight for a meeting about the very worrying changes to our beloved NHS.

It is International Smiles Day!

I find it so sad that the NHS, having saved so many lives and being the pride of all Britain should now be facing extinction because of political interference and bureaucratic mismanagement.

My late husband was a hospital consultant. He and his colleagues were dedicated enthusiasts of the NHS and proud to serve under a fabulous matron. It was his belief the rot set in the day they forcibly retired her and her colleagues.

Now we have management experts who can juggle IT statistics and spreadsheets, but are devoid of nursing, medical and people skills – yet are in charge of hospitals and health boards with catastrophic results..

You have summed up the situation perfectly and it truly is a disaster in the making. Thank you for your comment.

I love St Ives too. Sorry to hear you are facing changes in the creaking NHS system. There is still so much money wasted ~ and none of it by nurses and doctors!!

Exactly ! The service received is always brilliant but the staff are at their wits end and very tired.

I don’t know where to start! Privatisation, closure of local cottage hospitals, fewer hospital beds and more care at home, starvation of funds and loss of morale in the profession, stopping of bursaries for trainee nurses, change of contract for junior doctors that they themselves say will damage patient care and on and on it goes……..

Ah, the usual 🙁 Same song plays in Australia. Frustrating that something so good (National healthcare) should come under any erosive force.
