Silver Trees, Harleys and a Long Road

10 Sep

Today we drove from the North Rim of The Grand Canyon back to Tuba City for an overnight stay. Again, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the landscape and intrigued by the silver tree trunks of the once burned forests. It was as if each one had been hand painted with silver  paint, quite surreal and utterly beautiful.  At the Navajo Bridge there were so many Harleys and we spoke to one of the riders envying his ride and he said it was a blast especially at 100F!

The picture of the road may give you an idea of today’s drive. Yesterday’s drive as it is now as we lost wifi last night.

But it would have to be a convertible Karman Ghia for me!

A dead forest, as sad as it is to see. Does posses an eerie beauty. Fire represents rebirth for forest.

Harley vs convertible Beetle Bug. I’d go with convertible Bug.

In fact you are probably right, safer and lots of fun! The trees were very lovely, quite eerie but beautiful in their dying. There were lots of baby Aspens growing up and I am told they are the first in the rebirth of the forest. 🙂

A plane ticket, car rental & a good pair of hiking boots; priceless. Besides, crashing into a dragonfly while walking or in VW Bug does not hurt as much if one is doing 100km/hr on a Harley. Then again Unknown Legend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJNYjaZ_29k by Neil Young does explain the desire and entrigue to escape on a Hog.
