Holbrook to Tuba City, Hopi Culture and Footprints

05 Sep

What a road trip that was! We drove, often the only car on the road, through the most beautiful and varied landscapes, stopping off at the Hopi Culture Centre and in a Hopi village to witness the Butterfly Dance where rain is being called for after all the heat of summer, all utterly fascinating but we were asked not to take photos or make notes…….   Next we went in search of dinosaur footprints! We were shown them by a lovely Navajo woman who told us about her tribe and their customs as well as lots of information about the footprints left so long ago in the mud. There was no charge for the tour but Navajo jewellery on sale so we bought some beautiful earrings.

We are off to The North Rim of The Grand Canyon today for four nights and will be surprised if there is any wifi.

Wow! So glad you got up to the Hopi mesas! And to a Butterfly dance! Will be interested to know what village you were in. Exciting to trace your travels!
