Floyd Market and The Appalachian Way

08 May

Last night we were at the Jamboree in Floyd. Tonight as I write this we are there again in spirit as we listen to the live streaming of tonight’s event and it is great fun. We have driven up to Roanoke and headed out on the Appalachian Trail for just an hour. Here is a taster of today.

This talented young man played Major Tom and was brilliant.

Floyd is a happening place. I have been following it for quite sometime on poet/writer Colleen’s (you might have seen her name on my comments). She lives in Floyd an offers a unique perspective to area and it’s residence. It is a special community and lifestyle. Here is her blogspot she, like you, is good peeps. http://www.looseleafnotes.com/2016/05/s-pot-light-on-pots/

I have been through Floyd along time ago, though at the time I didn’t know it was a special place. And for years thought of it as the place I had the worst breakfast ever.

On another note, Happy Mother’s Day. Am sure sure you are receiving overwhelming digital accolades from your children on your travels.

It somewhat a dull day here, as my mother unexpectedly passed away almost two weeks ago. So am not sure what to do with day. I guess just bounce thousands of fond memories off a baby blue sky, once the clouds get burned away.

    Travel safely.

Dear Calvin, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. I am glad that you have thousands of fond memories to help sustain you. It is hard losing a parent, still more so losing the second one and I send you virtual hugs through the ether.

It isn’t Mothers Day at home. We have tha day in March so I haven’t heard from the kids today but I have been wished a happy day by a goodly number of lovely people we have met today.

We were touched by Floyd and the lovely community there. Wish I’d known about Colleen, could have shared a moment over a coffee. I will check out her blog. Thanks for the link.

      All the best to you,

Thank you. I knew that Mother’s Day was different yonder over there, it just slipped my memory bank. Colleen is a ‘proper’ poet and the Warden over a flock of feisty hens.
