It’s half term and two of our lovely Live Wires are with us. I’ve been making a balaclava in Arsenal colours for J. It fits and J is delighted with it.
We baked this morning.
The sun shone and we played on the beach in real warmth which was so welcome.
We have started a serialisation of ‘Stig of the Dump’ by Clive King this evening and Chapter 1 has gone down so well, Chapter 2 is being read in bed as I write! It was a great favourite with our four when they were little too and a joy to read again.

“Stig of the Dump” – what a great book. It has been a favourite with children for so long. When I first starting teaching decades ago I often read Stig to the class, then when our own children were the right age it became a bed time favourite. It is so good to know it is still being enjoyed.

Both of us read also to classes at school and then to our four and now J is enjoying it too. The sign of a classic, I think. 🙂

The hat reminds me of some my mother made oh so many years ago. I don’t really remember mine, only pictures of me wearing it. She would have been 87 last week. Thanks for bringing forth a pleasant memory.

It is the good memories from events like this that become our real treasures.
