Three Lovely Plates

09 Nov

We inherited these three beautiful plates – the pretty orange tree one, commemorating the birth of a Dutch Princess, Julianna, from a Dutch Uncle on my other half’s side of the family, the Gwennap Church one from my folks who lived in Sunny Corner near Gwennap and the Susie Cooper one from my Granny.

Julianna born 30th April 1909

Wonderful to have special family artifacts that tell the stories of your relatives.

Do you use them? I have some old plates from my Great Aunt that are wonderful for serving cookies for “tea.”

I love that “3D” Susie Cooper dish! I can imagine using it for strawberries with sugar for dipping in the center. Or for veggies and dip. Or for assorted nuts and nibbles. Or for fruit with chocolate fondue in the center. Can you tell it’s almost my dinner time?

Actually we don’t! We just look at them on the dresser as I couldn’t bear for them to get broken……. I love all your thoughts on how to make use of the Susie Cooper! My favourites are the ones with fruit and fondue! 🙂
