There is something irresistible about Gerbers. At least for me to pluck a petal. Like a child’s cheek that begs a tug.
Perfect place for exploring. A perfect capture of youthful adventure. Is one ever too old for rock pooling as you call it.
On Vancouver Island, north of Victoria, near the coastal village Port Renfrew is what now has become a park, Botanical Beach Provincial Park. Botanical Beach is a sandstone shelf where tidal pools have been formed in the soft stone due to relentless wave action. It has been ten or so years since I was last there -a kind of unknown must see back then, but has become more known of late and more accessible. A google image search of botanical beach port renfrew is worth it. The openings of the pools vary – very large to very small fish bowl size. The more interesting ones, in my mind, have opening about ten centimeters with a rounded cavity of one metre or greater -full of sorts of sea life that have grown to large to get out. A micro ocean that one can look into on your hands and knees.

I love the smell of seaweed – it holds so many childhood memories of scrambling over rocks and catching shrimp in the pools. 🙂
