Soups, Walk and Marmalade

16 Aug

Today I have made some Runner Bean soup (recipe here but do try googling Runner Bean soup!) and some delicious Carrot, Orange and Mint Soup.

2   We had a walk this afternoon, just around town. There are masses of beautiful hanging baskets and window boxes all over the place. I love this entrance to St Rumon’s Gardens.

We had only one jar of Marmalade left so had to make it now or not for several weeks. We made 5 lbs each – mine just plain Seville Orange and Mr S’s Orange and Mandarin, all from fruit frozen away last February. The tiny, one serving, jars are for my breakfast in bed in my first week of recovery!

I love the hodge podge of jars for your Marmalade…Looks just like me!…I save any small jars for my jams…and the small ones work great for the two of us …

I can’t decide if carrot, orange and mint soup would be incredible or not to my tastes-it certainly sounds intriguing.
Love the old doorway. Where I live we have one structure dating back to the 1770s, but after that, the very oldest structures only date back to the late 19th, and there are very few of them.

The soups and marmalade made me want to get in the kitchen (big time!) and the garden entrance made me wish I had an equally lovely place within walking distance…. hmmm, maybe I do. Maybe I just haven’t explored enough. 🙂

I do love to be organised! I am off into hospital on Wednesday for my next hip replacement so needed to feel everything is ready. That’s five lunches at the ready and breakfast sorted! 🙂

Ahh Europe has beautiful buildings too. We’re so boring in north America or we just don’t have the history I guess…
