Edibles, Colour and Scent

11 May

1   We have a new raised bed just outside the kitchen where I am growing edible flowers and small salad leaves. So far the Rocket and Pak Choi have sprouted, the Nasturtiums are doing well and the Violas are pretty – I did buy them as flowering plants..

2   The front garden is full of colour and is lovely as you approach the house……….

3  …………  and the best thing is that it all smells divine too. The Wallflowers are really strong, the Bluebells have a quite heady scent when all together and the Clematis Montana Elizabeth smells a bit vanillary. I wish you could share in the sensory delight!

I have to say you make the most of your area. You are so far ahead of us, Blossom-wise and veggie & shtufffs-wise. On the upside, the last few day the temp rocketed to 30C cause leaf and buds to explode overnight. That said, cool weather is in the forecast. That said we have had little rain which is not the norm for this time of year. There just does not seem to be a ‘normal’ year.

It is taking a long time to warm up this year but things are staying around for longer as a result. We still have a few daffodils! They have been going , one type or another, since New Year. We have woken up to blue skies this morning. Happy day to you 🙂
