Eggy Bread, Left Behind and Freesias

03 Apr

1   For their last breakfast this holiday we made eggy bread with all the eggs that had been blown out of the April Fool chocolate eggs. Doused in Golden Syrup, it all went down a treat.

2   And now they have gone home and everything is too quiet! Their beach toys are outside, waiting to be put in the shed for their next visit.

3   The Freesias that their Daddy brought with him have now opened and are a beautiful delicate violet with little pale pinky stamens.

We do Skype but not really very effectively just yet though J is now very good on the phone. They lead such very busy lives though, what with Breakdancing and Karate and after school clubs and swimming and…. They always seem to be just off somewhere! 🙂

I had eggy bread for breakfast today, but it did not look as nice as yours! The golden syrup was missing!

That’s how I have mine too but the children prefer golden syrup. 🙂

Ooooh, it is delicious. Balls of bread dough, coated in melted butter and rolled in a brown sugar and cinnamon mix, cooked in a Bundy tin!!!! I put half a square of dark chocolate in the middle of each dough ball too! Extremely naughty, incredibly yummy. I use this recipe http://www.barbarabakes.com/2011/01/overnight-monkey-bread/ I don’t do the glaze, we prefer it without. For the choc, a supermarket 200g bar has 32 squares so each one halved is the exact amount. It is now a birthday tradition in our house or any other occasion we can find an excuse to make it! X

That sounds absolutely amazing! I shall have to try it. Thank you so much for the recipe link. It doesn’t sound as if I should just make it for fun so roll on the next celebration! 🙂

Yes! I can’t describe how delicious it is, well worth all the faffing and the chocolate addition is a must, sticky, sweet balls of dough and when you bite into them, oozing with melted chocolate!! :-0

Did it have peanut butter on? I am clutching at straws here.
