Thoreau, Hailstones and A Rainbow

24 Mar

1  This quotation came my way today, courtesy of a fellow blogger, unexpected in common hours. Go and have a look at what she writes . I like the sentiment herein.

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

– Henry David Thoreau

2   There were so many short sharp hail showers today that I feared for the little Tete a Tete daffodils but they have survived.

3  Coming away from the supermarket today (another first since my op, shopping on my own!) there were very dark clouds and suddenly and briefly a rainbow, very bright against the so dark cloud. I was in the car park so pulled over quickly and caught this photo. The next moment it was gone.  Such is the way of rainbows!

So do I! I loved how the cloud behind it was so dark and highlighted the rainbow colours. 🙂

Thank you for the pingback and for sending readers to my blog. Strangely, I got no notice from WordPress of the pingback and was quite surprised, when reading your post, to realize you were referring to me. Many thanks! I hope you are continuing to make a complete recovery from your hip surgery and that all is well. Cheers, Deb

WordPress aren’t always on the ball these days! However, I am glad you found the ping when you read the post. One of my oldest friends (we rediscovered each other recently) came over to you and loved your blog too.
I am recovering really well, thank you, moving so much better and free of pain! Yippee!:)

As with rainbows, the trick is to leave or disappear at the appropriate time. They are masters at that. Enjoyed the images, especially of the Daffodils. I didn’t know you’d had your op, Sally. Hope you’re recovering well.

Hi Sally, another thanks for introducing me to lots of new things and kindred spirits. i followed the link today to ‘unexpected in common hours’ and again there was a half an hour gone reading interesting and thoughtful posts. Each day is like a little invitation to a journey, sometimes of a few seconds and at other times to share a different world experience. Love, June.

That’s lovely to hear. The world of blogging is fun! I love hearing about other people’s lives around the world, sharing experiences and making friends across the oceans. I love it when others find the same. I hope all is well with you and yours. I’m off today to suss out a venue for a Renewal of Wedding Vows that I’m doing for a lovely couple on 6th April. Love
      Sally

I agree. It was there for such a fleeting moment but gave me so much pleasure in that short time. 🙂
