My City, More Singing and New Books

21 Feb

1   Another trip to Truro today, the city where I grew up and the city that I love. Here is a video that will give you a flavour of this beautiful place. Click on the red link.

2  We went to Truro specifically because one of the choirs I sing with, The Ingleheart Singers were giving a free lunchtime concert in the Cathedral. I haven’t been able to rehearse with them for some time but what a privilege it was to be in the audience and listen to that glorious sound soaring in the wonderful space that is our Cathedral. We had a group photo taken at the end so I am in it even though, on this occasion, I wasn’t singing!

Here they are singing Oxygen, written by our own lovely choir leader, Claire Ingleheart. Click on the video link to see and listen.

3   While we were in the city, we also went to the Bookshop (how could one not?) and I bought 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet by Lesley Stanfield for my special project and the next in the Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith, J K Rowling’s pseudonym for her adult novels. I just finished the first one and couldn’t wait to get started on the next one, delightfully entertaining, well plotted and well written.

I would enjoy working through that book of flowers.

The song was lovely – can’t think of a place with better acoustics right?! The crochet flower book and your work are lovely too! I hope you’ll post more as you make them.

Absolutely right about the acoustics! I will show you more as I crochet or knit the little flowers. Thank you for your comments. 🙂

Are they making a film of it? Haven’t heard about that. A Casual Vacancy is on our TV at the moment, episode 2 tonight.
Love to you and yours 🙂

My sister’s addicted to the Robert Galbraith books, I haven’t got to reading one yet.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with all your crocheted flowers. The daffodil looks very cheerful.

Glad you had a lovely time watching your choir at the cathedral. I used to sing in the school choir but I’m not sure I was ever an asset. As much as I love listening to music it refuses to stick in my head.

    Have a lovely Sunday.

Absolutely beautiful…I also went out to YouTube to listen to your other work, the flash mob video was very appealing.

It’s enormous fun doing a flash mob sing! I’m glad you found some of our other singing. We do have a good time harmonising together. All the best to you 🙂

Yes, I’ll do that. Several of my readers have been to YouTube to find more of The Inglehearts singing (and enjoyed it) which is very pleasing. 🙂

Nice video, Sally. I didn’t realise that you were doing it. What was wrong with your photos, the video is good?

The lighting just didn’t work and I wasn’t happy with any of them. Thanks to Tina for her photo! 🙂

I enjoyed the video and went in search of the choir on YouTube. I like this one from 2012: http://youtu.be/dY1xBjzpKaQ

We sang that lovely Irish folk song today too. It sounded wonderful in the Cathedral. I’m glad you went looking for us on YouTube! 🙂
