1 This little Wren is often around on our trellis but rarely stays long enough for me to get a photo.

2 I spent a very interesting afternoon walking around St Euny Churchyard with a local historian who was so full of stories that kept us all amused and fascinated. This has the makings of a promising project. Have a look here for more about the Churchyard and to see the most informative Mining and Medicine board where you can learn more about trepanning. Click on any photo for more detail and for the caption.
The Tudor tower of St Euny Church. There has been a Church on this site since 550!

This and the next photo are gravestones to a brother and sister, both born in Cuba where the family had emigrated to so that their father could share his mining skills and who both died locally, Julianna at only 6yrs old and Josiah, just 18.

The resting place of S V Pryce, the Redruth surgeon who was an expert in trepanning.
Isn’t he wonderful?

3 Singing with The Inglehearts tonight was a tonic as usual. Thank you to Claire and to my concerned friends.

Just fascinating Sally, Excellent historical references and wonderful photos. I admit to being partial to the lovely little wren. I hope you’ve been well and happy. My best to you this festive time of year, with much true affection, Penny xxxxxxx

This post reminds me of my childhood. My granddad was part of a cricket team and so we would visit lots of different villages and whilst they played my grandma, mother and I used to visit the village church and grave yard and try to find the oldest grave. Thank you for posting!
