Jay, Natural History Museum, and Wildlife Garden

29 Jun

1   Yesterday morning, J spotted an unusual bird on the fence and I was delighted to tell him that it was a Jay. This morning, he decided to draw the beautiful bird for his Mummy and Daddy for when they return.

2   We took the tube train to the Natural History Museum today and had a splendid time investigating all manner of things. After our picnic lunch we went out into the Wildlife gardens which were lovely. The building is one of my favourites – I love the patterns made by the coloured bricks.

3   In the pond in the wildlife area we spotted beautiful Dragonflies, a Coot with fluffy babies, Water Lilies and Water boatmen.

Jay by J, perfect rendering if you ask me.

Am with you, I like the brick work, your eyes just seem to flow all of the structure. I imagine the minds and imaginations of the ‘wee ones’ went wild over the contents -your never to young to experience the visuals.

Our version in Ottawa looks like this http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8MmU6p1r7x0/UZt4YNZz_9I/AAAAAAAAhXw/ksnAVabt9Yc/s1600/Canadian+Museum+of+Nature+by+KPMB+Architects02.jpg
It has lost its appeal and visitors, over the years, trumped by the new more organic massive Canadian Museum of History built across the Ottawa River in Hall, Quebec http://www.historymuseum.ca/cmc/exhibitions/cmc/architecture/images/tour170b.jpg

I agree with you I do love the Natural History museum, it is such a grand building. I used ot live just around the corner form it and it was my playground way back in 1984. Still like to go back there now.

I enjoyed your posting and the art work by J! Also the photos of the Museum. I would most like to share that as a very young boy of 5- 65 years ago I stood by a pond similar to the one in your photo and it left an image I still draw on.
good that you did that for J.
