Sailing Lesson Day 2, Cormorant and Another Rescue

07 May

1   Well, we did it! We are again exhausted after a challenging day of learning to sail with quite strong winds and stronger gusts but very happy that we now have our Royal Yachting Association Level 1 Certificates. We completed the syllabus at the Falmouth School of Sailing with our very understanding and excellent teacher (who also fed us Jelly babies! Those who are regular readers will know how I love my Jelly babies!) and we are now ready to tackle Level 2.

2  While practising tacking out in the bay, we saw a small boat suddenly lose its mast and so we went to the rescue again. To our surprise, one of the pair was one of the young women we rescued yesterday! She was very pleased to see us again.

3    Cormorants were skimming the waves and diving but they are very hard to catch on camera.

Wooooooooooo whooooooooooo! Am not a sailor but have friends who have been sailing since they we’re babies. I would think sailing and fishing are similar, in so much, that every hour spent sailing or fishing is another hour you live longer. Sail on! Sail on!

Yes, I do! It’s hard to believe that a couple of weeks ago I was afraid of the water and now I get a buzz from being out there! Now I need to make up for lost time! 🙂

    Fantastic – congratulations!
You’re going to get a reputation as the Florence Nightingale of the marina… 😉
