The sun came out this afternoon so, to build my strength back up, we went for a short walk along to St Euny Church. There we discovered that the Redruth Team Ministry have been very busy and have put up some fascinating information boards about the history of the Church and the local area. Do click on the board in the gallery and read about trepanning by highly skilled local surgeons in the late 1700’s and the miners who walked home after such a traumatic experience!
The Primroses, Wild Garlic and the Bluebells were all in flower as were the Cherry tree and many Azaleas. It was a beautiful stroll and I feel the better for it. On the way up the lane, we spotted a delightful summer house through the hedge where a tree has been cut down since we were last there. Click on any photo for an enlargement.

I actually got married in this church, it is a beautiful church with a lovely church yard. The board is new and very interesting! Thanks for showing this, after it has been a long time since I was there.

There are three information boards, all interesting but this one I found utterly fascinating. My Dad found the history of Cornish mining compelling too and wrote novels based around it – ‘Jeremy Visick’ for younger readers and ‘Ellen Bray’, under his pen name Jane Julian for adults. If you like historical fiction, you may find them in the library. Most adults love Jeremy as a good read too. 🙂

I am not but my husband , well now ex grew up in Cornwall/Redruth/Carn Brae. We spend many summers in Cornwall and I have seen the beauty of it. I love Gwithian Beach, and all the derelict mines. It is a beautiful corner of the world and I have many wonderful memories. His Grandad used ot live in the oldest house in St. Day. After his death it was sold and a little renovated. (which it desperately needed) We love the sea and oh htere are so many places there which are beautiful. I alway slove whe you show us some places and I have been there!
