Boston – Beacon Hill, ‘Ain’t I a Woman?’ and Ducklings

16 Oct

They say that Boston is a walkable city and we have walked for hours discovering the fascinating Boston African American History Museum having followed the Black History Trail around the Beacon Hill area. I learned about the feisty Sojourner Truth and her amazing speech delivered at the 1851 Women’s Rights Convention in Ohio. You may have to click to enlarge the photo to read it.

The buildings around Beacon Hill are beautiful. I loved the beautifully kept doors and porches.

We walked the Freedom Trail too finding The Old State House, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market where we had Corn Chowder in a Bread Roll for lunch

Back to our hotel through the park, red leaves and the delightful Make Way for Ducklings sculpture.

Those doors! Makes me curious about the people who are behind them 🙂 To this day, I can’t read aloud any version of Sojourner Truth’s ‘Ain’t I a woman’ speech without tearing up…. And I continue to be amazed at your consistency and dedication.

What a beautiful city. Lovely shots, and that mother goose with her goslings, too beautiful.

You are enjoying wonderful weather. In two or three weeks who knows?
In the 4th picture down I see something that looks like cobwebs. But I am sure not. They look like they are serving some purpose. Do you know what?

They’d be Halloween decorations – the Americans decorate all month in October for it. It’s almost as big a holiday down there as Christmas.

Beautiful doorways – I’d love to have a front entrance so grand.

Thanks! Oh yes. I see that now. 🙂 I’m one of those Americans who should have known that. lol My house is decorated with cobwebs. 🙁
All the doorways are really lovely. Makes you want to go knocking.

Such nice photographs bring back such fond memories of my own visit to Boston, Beacon Hill and…those ducks….all shiney where they’ve been touched by the many. Did you, too?
