Carrots, Furniss Island and A New Wool Shop

24 Sep

1   Bright orange carrots with their frothy, green foliage always look so lovely on the Greengrocer’s stall.

2   On this beautifully warm Autumn day, we took our lunch to a little park we are fond of in Truro. We hadn’t been for some time and were delighted to discover a real treat. The Friends of Furniss Island had been busy planting a vegetable patch for the use of anyone who would like to harvest a few beans or courgettes or herbs or, as in our case, some baby tomatoes which we ate straight from the vine with our sandwiches! What a beautiful and generous idea.

3   Another discovery today was a new wool shop! Oh, joy! Just look at this delightful sign all knitted up and such a range of wonderful wools to choose from. I have several projects underway at the moment but will be back!

Mouthwatering colours, and all among my favorite things. What joy to see a wool shop. I understand they are making a welcome return.

the idea of the edible garden…how neat is that…and that people respect what it’s there for…”sharing”…
The colorful wools…are so bright and and makes you warm just imagining all of the sweaters and scarves that can be made…

Hey, Beautiful Thing! The image of the carrots was so impressive, it looked as though an orange-faced being was wearing a huge Hedda Hopper-style green hat.

Thanks for the little tour. When I am “fenced in,” as I am some days, it’s wonderful to be able to leave my house and town for a grand tour of some other climes. Thanks also for commenting at my blog… Peace, Amy

I was looking at the fencing around the rhubarb. Wondering what it protects from, as it is not very high. Maybe I will install some like that in my garden as things are always getting eaten and I have run out of odd bits of fencing which is rather ugly anyway.
