1 Wheal Coates is on one of our favourite walks and some of you will have seen photos of it before. This wonderful photograph of Wheal Coates with The Milky Way behind it, was taken by a local photographer, Tim Martindale, and I have his permission to use it tonight. Isn’t it a stunning photograph? 2 We have spoken to both our twins today as yesterday and today are their birthdays. L said the loveliest thing “Happy Birthing Day to you, Mum” No-one has ever said that to me before; I haven’t ever thought it. Now that L is a Mum herself, she knows!
3 I have made Lemon Marmalade this afternoon as L&T gave us 15 lemons yesterday. It is the most beautiful pale golden colour and carries the date of L’s birthday which I shall find a pleasure each time we open a new jar.

The marmalade glow is divine, truly. Not a big fan of marmalade, yet the colour of yours would entice me am sure to lather something up and savour the flavour of what looks to be sugary fool’s gold…..harvested my grapes this past weekend to make grape jelly, am always astonished to the mount of sugar that goes in to make jam and shtufffs. My grapes are on the tart side so the finished product as an abundance of ‘pucker power’.
Wheat Coates is a fantastic sculpture, going far beyond a structure in ruins. As awe inspiring as Martindale’s Milky Way image is, I think yours shows it more as object d’ art.

You’re not the only one to find it won’t load but some seem to have managed. I’ve reloaded the photo and think it works now but thank you very much for tracking down a link.
I’m always amazed at how much sugar goes into jam and marmalade! I just reassure myself that I don’t eat a lot at once!
We love Wheal Coates, an iconic bit of Cornwall. We have engine houses from the tin mining era all over the place but that has to be one of the best preserved and one of the best locations. Thank you very much for your lovely comment about my photo! 🙂

Both pictures of Wheal Coates are lovely …. each in its own way. City lights really hide the beauty of the universe. We live away from the hustle and bustle, but I’m usually fast asleep when the twinkles come out.

My grandma makes crab apple jelly with a hint of something red to make a wonderful colour. We also have an amazing plum chutney that she makes us, but unfortunately this year the plum tree had so many plums on it that the entire tree has split in half.
