1 I was first introduced to the beautiful story, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, many, many years ago when I was in the 6th form and in France for a three week exchange with Josiane Fromage and her family in Toulouse. (Wouldn’t it be just brilliant if she, or someone who knows her, were to read this blog?) Finding this quotation, “One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye,” the Fox speaking to the Little Prince, has inspired me to read it again.

2 A simple supper tonight of enormous mushrooms stuffed with a vegetable and rice mixture, topped with cheese and served with a flower salad from our garden.

The Little Prince has been one of my favourite books since I was little. I find something new to think about every time I read it. Aren’t books like that wonderful?
I must have at least three copies of it scattered around along with multiple copies of The Art of War, strangely enough.
I’m tempted to wander outside and eat my way through my garden looking at your salad. Beautiful colours. Knowing me, I’d probably eat something poisonous though!

Your supper almost looks like a garden! I must admit, I’ve never seen flowers on a plate like that.
As for the quote, very true. A beautiful looking book, too.

You have reminded me that long ago I read both his Night Flight and Wind Sand & Stars – both excellent but now I can remember little of them. Perhaps this is a prompt to return to them. I bet your strawberries taste like they used to (which supermarket versions don’t)

Your simple supper looks beautiful and delicious. The berries top the ice cream perfectly.
Years ago, Melanie and I were walking through a grassy area behind our apt building. We came upon a patch of wild strawberries. There were too many to hold in my hat. We got our large bowl and filled it, freezing many for later use. They are so delicious.

I read the little prince when I was going through a very rough time and in a way the story stuck a cord with me and helped me. It is a great story isn’t it?
