Well Dressing, Suspended Coffee and Shoes

02 Aug

1   My first find on the computer this morning was this beautiful photograph of a well dressing at St Anne’s Well in Buxton sent to me by a friend who knows that I love beautiful things!   As she says, ” It’s the 200th anniversary of the first publication of Pride and Prejudice so that was the theme this year. It’s one of the best I’ve seen in recent years and made with all natural materials which is an added bonus, as always.” Thank you, GS!   It really is a beautiful work of art.

Our local Organic Coffee Shop.

I was in there yesterday asking them to put up a poster for a gig in August.(More about that later this month!)  They have also agreed to sell tickets for us which is brilliant. While I was in there, I saw the sign for “Suspended Coffee”. This is a brilliant scheme where, when you buy a drink for yourself, you can also buy a ‘suspended coffee’, in other words you buy a coffee for someone who is finding life tough to claim at some later date. Read all about it on the poster.

3   I was hunting for new shoes today. I saw these and fell in love with them! What a shame that I can’t wear high heels any more!

so now…I’ve learned of well dressings…how neat!…and so pretty!…the shoes are gorgeous!…but, no heels for me…although I so wish I could when I get dressed up…
the coffee idea is great…will have to pass this idea along somewhere…
here in the states people are “paying it forward”…like in a drive-thru restaurants…the preceeding car sometimes pays for the people in back of them…Great concept…we need a little treat at times for sure!

The cafe owner was telling me about ‘paying it forward’ too. She’s about to introduce that idea in the cafe too – same principle as the coffee. Great idea, isn’t it? 🙂

I think so…I’ve known people who it has happened to…and they were thrilled!

I would think so. I would love to see the person whom I have helped but I suppose that kind of defeats the object.

I do not quite understand what a well dressing is but it is beautiful nonetheless as are the shoes! Love the idea of buying a suspended coffee–just another way of caring for our fellow human beings

The whole picture on a well dressing is made out of flowers and leaves. They were ‘dressed’ like this in the past to say thank you for the water in the well and the custom has continued even though the water supply now comes from pipes! Beautiful, aren’t they? 🙂

I agree with John Z. The coffee idea is a good one. I wonder if it is done around here. I seldom visit coffee shops to know.

And those shoes are incredible. Elton John would love them, wouldn’t he?

Isn’t it? Win/win for everyone! You feel good because you’ve done a good thing, the coffee shop sells an extra coffee and someone having a hard time gets a hot drink.

All the best to you 🙂

I read a English murder mystery this year that was centered round well dressings. This is so cool! 🙂
