1 I found a pretty little toast rack at the car-boot sale this morning to add to my small collection. The white one was my Granny’s, the blue one was made by one of my favourite potters, Jane Hamlyn, the small cream one with the flowers once belonged to my very good friend, Kath, who is the inspiration behind this blog and the new one is the one with the red line all around.
2 We called in at a garden centre on our way home and the scent of massed Lavender was just lovely. If only we could have so many plants in the garden!
3 There are several self-seeded foxgloves on our Cornish hedge at the back and they are magnificent, towering above everything else.

I am glad…I think…. that I am not the only one who never heard of a toast rack. I do like hot toast, but always leave it in the toaster to get crunchy. I also like it a little burnt. Then get scolded for stinking up the house. 🙁

I am surprised that the toast rack seems to be such an English item. I had no idea. I like it crunchy too! 🙂

What beautiful toast racks!! The blue one is my favorite and your granny’s white one reminds me of my granny’s old butter dish:) Lavender swaying in the breeze make me miss spring:)

I followed a link from Alex Autin’s blog to your lovely blog. With all the negative and ugly things that happen every day, it is a breath of fresh air to come to a site that celebrates beauty. Thanks for it.
btw…I would rather have warm toast. 🙂

Thanks. It will melt my butter. I toasted some Irish soda bread this morning. I made it yesterday. Really delicious.

I like Irish soda bread toasted even better than when it’s warm and just out of the oven. Oh, my nose is full of freshly baked bread! 🙂

Same here, I’ve never seen a toast rack! And I’m not sure what a car-boot sale is…
The flowers are lovely, Sally!

What an interesting post! As you think of that day, what do you see as the common thread in you that runs through the toast rack, lavender and foxgloves?

Interesting question that no-one in more than 620 posts has asked before! Sometimes there is a definite link, mostly, they are just three lovely things from my day that I hope will brighten others’ days too. Thank you for calling in and taking the time to comment. 🙂

A toast rack is not something I’d use because I like to butter my toast immediately. 🙂

The toast racks are nice. What a beautiful field of lavender!
Your photography is lovely. This seems like an excellent way to spend the day.
It appears very pretty where you live.

It is very pretty where we live in Cornwall. The coast is lovely and the fields inland are mostly very green at the moment, some full of buttercups.

I don’t like hot toast and a toast rack allows the toast to cool and stay crisp! 🙂
