1 We have a family of Magpies chattering away in the garden, not quite enough for a parliament (when there are lots of magpies gathered together) We have this rhyme with regard to Magpies but I’ve never seen more than five at once.
One for sorrow, two for joy;
Three for a girl, four for a boy;
Five for silver, six for gold;
Seven for a secret, never to be told;
Eight for a wish, nine for a kiss;
Ten for a bird that’s best to miss.
2 This very small snail was on our bench. I may not have found him quite so beautiful had he been among the baby lettuces!
3 Our new sculpture is being moved around the garden until we find just the right spot. Here he is sitting on several roof tiles, as advised by the sculptor, in the middle of the lawn but I don’t think he’ll stay there for long…….

I’ve never seen magpies with blue on them. How gorgeous.

You are so lucky. I could watch the magpies for hours. They used to frolic in the woods outside the mess hall at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage. I understand why the cartoonist, Paul Terry got the idea for Heckle and Jeckle..

I do love watching them; they are very beautiful. I’ll have to look up Heckle and Jeckle – new to me. Thank you for calling in 🙂

I never saw a parliament, but I can imagine the antics.

Every picture comes from a fairy tale book. I like the yellow flowered field in the background behind the magpies.

I love the yellow field full of buttercups too, especially in the evening sunshine. 🙂

I had no idea that rhyme could have to do with magpies. I think we used it for jumping rope and it seems there was a line about “to get married”.

It seems the Magpies like your lighthouse birdhouse!
