1 The curved herb wall is full of tiny bulbs which are bursting with Spring colour. The crocus which has died and fallen from its stem has the most vibrant and wonderful colours.
2 We took this little Spring bouquet to very old friends in Truro today, one of whom is very poorly. They looked after my Dad when he first moved to Cornwall in 1953, took me in for a holiday when I was 14. My family had moved North for a brief time and I was so desperately unhappy to have been taken away from Cornwall and they had me, a tricky teenager, to stay for two weeks! They have been such lovely loyal friends for such a long time.
3 Truro was lovely as always

Amazing colour combination in the crocus flower – orange and the deepest purple. Beautiful

Lovely isn’t it? Apart from the beastie life that is getting at our crocuses! 🙂

I always love to receive fresh cut flowers instead of an arrangement from the florists.
Your pictures are gorgeous as always.

Keep those spring flower photos coming, Sally! We up here in the northeast (NYS, Ontario, Vermont) are longing for the colour but will have to wait a month at least. Altho I did see tulip leaves poking up in a sunny bed outside the hospital yesterday, quite a pleasant surprise. At first glimpse I thought your dying crocus was a painting. Lovely thing.

I will! I loved that crocus too -the colours were shimmering in the sunshine (the half hour that we had in the morning!)
All the hedgerows from Redruth to Truro have daffodils in them – just a delight to see but we go by to quickly to capture them in a photo.
All the best to you 🙂

Your photographs are wonderful, The first photo has a rich poignant feel to it that I like, but daffodil days are my favorite time of the year! Thank you, a feast for my eyes! 🙂

I couldn’t quite believe how beautiful the dying crocus was – such rich colours. I love daffodil time too and here in Cornwall where they are grown one can come across whole fields of them! I’m hoping to be able to capture a photo this year. 🙂

Yes, Spring is on its way! It was even warm today too, about 12* though they’ve said it will be very cold again at the weekend so we hope the buds will be okay.
All the best to you 🙂

Just in time for mothers day. I remember when I was a kid and we went to Sunday School (well it was the Salvation Army, but the same thing) and on Mother’s Day they used to give us a daffodil to take home, and we always used to bite the heads off and eat them on the way home

I didn’t know they were edible! Did you give your Mum the headless stalk?! 🙂
Alastair
March 5, 2013 at 8:42 pm
We did 😆 I don’t think they are edible, but there again, my mother didn’t believe I had tonsillitis because I was still piling food away. I would have eaten an aircraft carrier given the chance hehe
