Mysterious Gate, Pasty Sign and Very Young Moon

14 Jan

1    Today’s walk took us past the mysterious gate again. This time I looked more closely and held my camera over the top to where I couldn’t see and discovered a path but I still don’t know where it goes. I shall have to ask some older people who’ve lived here much longer than we have. I did see the label this time – Marygate. I wonder who she was…….

Behind the gate....

Behind the gate….

2   On the back of a car parked next door I saw this sign which made me smile.

Silly sign

Silly sign

3   Setting out for choir tonight (first sing in three weeks!) the moon had just risen. It was new on January 11th so is only three nights old and is very beautiful.

Even your gates have style in England! They are so beautiful with the stone walls.

Hello, I googled too before I read this and found the same link. It’s not that one but I’m wondering if it might be something to do with the Church as the Vicarage is on one side of the lane and the graveyard on the other. I’ll have to ask locally. 🙂

We also saw the moon on the way to choir last night.
    Could marygate be a gatemaker?

There’s a coincidence! Hope you enjoyed your singing as much as I did.

Interesting idea about the gate. I’ll investigate that – thank you 🙂

The emerald forest gate -liked it before, even more curious now. A little fog, darkness and a stiff breeze. Creaky hinges and muffled foot steps.

I love the way you find a story in a picture. Your own photos always lead to a narrative forming in my mind as well as in yours…. 🙂

What’s behind a door is always mysterious and this one a lot more. Go and investigate but be careful. Nice pictures

I tried the handle but it didn’t open! I’ll have to go round the back and see what I can find. I will be careful – thank you. 🙂

That door looks like a gateway into a C.S. Lewis novel 🙂

Did you see the beautful rosy red sunset last night – hoped you might have caught it on camera – by the time I had dashed in and found mine it had already faded.

I missed it but a kind friend let me use his photo and I added it to yesterday’s post. So wish I’d seen it. It looked stupendous from his photo. 🙂
