1 “If you want to change the world, first you have to change yourself. In fact, just change your heart and it will change the world. Start now, start this second to do good deeds. From the moment you create good deeds your good karma will stay with you.” Sri Sakthi Narayani Amma…
I read this today on a blog about India whose writer had found mybeautfulthings. It made me think about this morning when we visited the Food Bank in Redruth. The beautiful people there are giving up their time to distribute the donated food to those in need. It is certainly not a beautiful thing that this is necessary. It makes me very sad to know of so many in such dire straits and I despair of our Government cutting welfare and making life even harder for many whose life is already hard.
2 The first mince pies are made and the house is full of the smells of Christmas.
3 It is also full of orangey smells as I have made another batch of marmalade with oranges which were taking up space in the freezer, space I’m going to be needing for the other Christmas food which I am lucky enough to be able to prepare. I’ve dated them with yesterday’s delightful date as that’s when I started the oranges simmering. Yesterday was also my much loved Sister-in-law’s birthday so we will be reminded of her every time we open a new jar. I like that!

You are right about the foodbank. We help out at the foodbank in Taunton and on Tuesday we had 8 lots of people who came with their vouchers for food. It was great to be able to help them out but heartbreaking to listen to some of their stories.
love your mincepies by the way

Jam and hot biscuits and summer days, these are a few of my favorite things. Fantastic post today, love it!

I love all things homemade. Many a Christmas was saved when my handmade wood projects were the only way I had Christmas gifts for everyone. I made medicine cabinets, sewing boxes for the ladies, toilet paper/magazine racks and even mailboxes. These were all one-of-a-kind specialized designs from me. For example the toilet paper dispenser was designed to look like a park bench with a crank handle to roll off the sheets. Last year I gave 35 glossy 8:x10″ photos of my animal shots. It’s all good and they always seem well received. Your baked goods look yummy by the way. 🙂

Those mince pies will not last long. 🙂 You had best set aside one or two for yourself.

I am with you in your despair over how the poor are suffering these days. It seems that the cutting of welfare and benefits is happening everywhere now. So many people are suffering through no fault of their own. On a lighter note, I am also suffering because I want one of your mince pies – they look delish!!

Oh, I love the mince pies! They’re brilliant! I haven’t seen angel ones before – it’s such a good idea. I bet they taste lovely.
