1 A seasonal cook-up today! First a beautiful cake, Plum, Almond (should be hazelnuts) and Chocolate Cake, that came to me via the BBC Good Food site today. I couldn’t resist it! My version is full of the amino acid tryptophan which helps to make us happy! There are ground almonds, almond slivers and lots of good dark chocolate, all good sources of tryptophan hence its new name of Happy Cake.
2 While the cake was cooling and waiting for its glaze, we went to the Post Office to post off the two hoodies by the fastest post possible though I could hardly bear to part with them. If the hoodies themselves don’t keep the Grandbabies warm, then the love they’ve been made with will surely do the trick.
3 While we were out we found big Cornish cauliflowers at a good price so I have made an enormous batch of Curried Cauliflower Soup, one of our favourites for cold winter days: 3 pints in the freezer and one for tomorrow. Two servings go very nicely into a one pint milk carton and they stack really neatly in the freezer.
I’ll put both recipes up soon.
I can’t post large photos at the moment, they stretch and go out of proportion so these are all medium. Do click on each one for the large version.

It’s very good. Forgive my lack of response recently, getting ready for this adventure in India has taken lots of time. We fly tonight! 🙂

The cake had me until I saw plum lol — what’s wierd is I LOVE plum jam. Kind of like tomatoe’s vs ketchup. Those hoodies will definitely keep the babies warm inside and out! They are awesome. Soup is great for this time of the year.

You could try pears if you like them. They would go well with the chocolate and the almonds 🙂

Can’t wait for the soup recipe. The weather is turning colder so I was just thinking of making up a batch of vegetable barley soup. On the cruise we had lentil soup…so now I am also hungry for that. I can smell the aroma’s now! I love cauliflower so looking forward to trying it. Of coarse I will need to make the Happy Cake too, what is soup for a nice cold day without a good dessert to enjoy with a good cup of tea…must save some of the Highland tea I purchased for a treat like that cake! It is not easy to get hazelnuts here so I am glad you used the almonds so I know it will work.

We had a slice of cake after lunch today and both felt sleepy later! The tryptophan makes this a cake most suitable for evening indulgence!

yummy…but since I am still recuperating from our travels I need no help getting sleep right now! LOL Can’t wait to try it. And I found a website that sells Highland Tea – YEA…now I can really indulge. You would think drinking all that Highland Tea I would be bouncing off the walls, if anything I think it relaxes me. 😉
