1. The first man to step upon the moon, Neil Armstrong, has died and his family have asked that, to remember him, we look at the moon, smile and give a wink. What a beautiful way to remember a man who was clearly a gentle and generous individual. That request to wink had us remembering how both our Dads used to wink, in reassurance, in a moment of conspiracy, to say hello, to remind us how we were loved.
2 Mylor Marina, boatyard and Churchyard were our choice for today – the boats for Mr S, the water for us both and the Churchyard for me. What a lovely way to spend our special day, our Sapphire Wedding Anniversary!

3 Home to cook our Anniversary dinner together – French Confit Duck with beans, broad and French, from the garden and some baby new potatoes with a red wine sauce followed by Ginger Fairing Lime Cups (I was inspired by that ice-cream I had the other day!)

This post caught my eye, Armstrong is very much a hero of mine. I too sent a wink to the moon. Just the act of doing so, and the remembrance of us being there, created quite an emotional moment.
Also, very lovely churchyard photography, but I especially enjoyed the marina shot.

I invented that dessert and it worked really well! It was really just individual servings of the Lime and Ginger Cheesecake that is on my recipe pages http://wp.me/P1Ypl6-Tg but I used super Cornish Fairings and left out the pieces of ginger.

Oh what a beautiful post again… what lovely young things you were – we never realised when we were young how gorgeous we were, did we.? The churchyard… oh it made my heart sing, the beauty, the history, the touching memorials to the dead, and the concern for living creatures, and then your lovely grub, which made me want to start creating in the kitchen straight away!

What a lovely reply! You sum things up so beautifully. We were very young but none of our parents ever questioned our getting married. I guess, from seeing this picture again, they could see we were made for each other!
The graveyard was so moving. There were many more stones I would have liked to have shown, one to many young men of The Ganges who were Navy Trainees and who died, not at sea, but of diphtheria, typhus, cholera, pneumonia, whooping cough, TB, scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox. They were all 15,16 17.

I could have spent much more time in the graveyard – there are stories to be told about them for sure.
Have you read The Fate of Jeremy Visick? That starts with a gravestone and is a brilliant story for 9 upwards. Adults enjoy it too. I am just a bit biased as my Dad (David Wiseman) wrote it and it is set in Cornwall!
