Book Shop, Saffron Buns and Chocolate Cosmos

08 Aug

1   Shopping for maps for our trip planning today. The bookshop has a beautiful mural of the front cover of a children’s book ‘The Mousehole Cat’ (pronounced Mouzzle!) up the stairs.

2   On Lemon Quay in Truro on Wednesdays and Saturdays there is the farmers’ market. Today I first bought some delicious Cornish strawberries and then some tasty breads and two saffron buns from The Cornish Mill and Bakehouse.

The Cornish Mill and Bakehouse stall with saffron buns being got for me!

3   I cannot quite believe how shiny and beautiful these Chocolate Cosmos flowers are when they first open!

Chocolate Cosmos flower, just opened today

That flower is extraordinary, truly so. I’ve ever see anything like it … and never heard of saffron buns either. Oh, what a joy your three beautiful things never cease!

Love the cover of the book, the saffron buns are I would imagine out of this world and I never saw a Chocolate Cosmos before. Beautiful!

Saffron buns are delicious! Well worth trying but I’ve never tried to make them myself. One day I shall. The Chocolate Cosmos has now lost its shine, still beautiful but different.
My Mum always called murals, muriels and I have to remember not to! 🙂

I notice what we call “English tea biscuits” in the basket as well – we have a bakery here that make them and many English customers praise him for getting them right. They are one of my favorite treats. This bakery also makes delicious Italian and Germany pastries or as you called them {pasties} did I get that right? Anyway…everything looks delicious! Blessings! That was very observant of you! I tried to ignore the biscuits! We do call pastries, pastries – it’s only the savoury meat and veg Cornish pasties that are pasties! If that all makes sense! 🙂

yes it does, ok now I know what to try if I am lucky enough to visit your beautiful country! Actually I just ate my last tea biscuit with my tea. I can get some imports and one of my favorite is an Irish blend called “Barry’s” , Blessings ~ Patty

Love the Mouzzle books! And chocolate cosmos. We used to grow them but our single flower is looking very frail this year.
