1 Beautiful news about the safe arrival of Ionie, 3.4kg, in Munich, first baby for my nephew and his wife. I’ll have to get busy on the Sally-boots!
2 Today’s very beautiful rain-drenched flowers in our garden.
3 Finished reading ‘the earth hums in b flat’ by Mari Strachan, a delightful novel about growing up that begins “I fly in my sleep every night.” I loved that opening as I spent many of my childhood nights flying too! The novel is intriguing, full of childish misconceptions and a growing sense of self.

Indeed. And today we learned that a nephew on the other half of the family also became a Dad. No more info yet!

That’s a great opening line for a novel. I actually love opening lines. They are almost always memorable.
The flowers are utterly beautiful, and when you say rain-soaked garden, I can almost smell them 🙂
I still can’t get over you find 3 beautiful things in every day!!!
Have a beaut day 🙂

Oh dear Sally, this is a wonderful news, Congratulations. Should be so exciting days in there now. Your flowers are amazing… Especially after the rain… Well captured. I love reading books and there are so many waiting for me but I can’t find time enough and also they are in English and my reading especially novels, etc. takes much more time, you can understand this. How wish to read as in my own language… without searching, or looking up any other books, dictionary, etc. But I hope will be like that one day… I noted this novel too, the quotes are amazing and impressed me. I really wish to read… THANK YOU so much you are so beautiful friend. Have a nice weekend, with my love, (by they way my love watches the football match, UK and Sweden behind me in the living room but my ears there too… I wish UK to win I make my fingers crossed! UK 3 – SWE 2… right now it happened. This is amazing… Go go UK… Love, nia

What a delightfully long reply! Yes, UK won!
I don’t know when we will see the new baby as she is in Munich and we are in Cornwall but hope it won’t be too long.
I am so impressed with your use of English. You are amazing! I can get by in French but couldn’t do half as well as you do with English. I think you would enjoy the novel as it is funny and poignant. The names are quite hard as they are Welsh . I can’t pronounce them either, just say them in my head as I think they could be!
Have a lovely weekend!
With love
Sally
