1 The honeysuckle is looking beautiful and the bees are appreciating the blooms too.

2 There was a Bumble bee on the honeysuckle but my biologist daughter tells me that this bee on the broad beans is a Honey bee. I’m not sure why, but that pleases me!

3 The children came home and Tabitha raided the cupboard for the beautiful colourful cup-cake cups and Jake had fun with Lucy.

and a question for my fellow bloggers who are gardeners – My Sprouting Broccoli is sprouting! I thought it was supposed to do this in the Winter and the Spring. Should I pinch out the tops or what? Please advise!

Whatever type the bee is I think it’s a welcome sight.
Hmmm, sprouting broccoli at this time! When things sprout or bolt early its usually a sign of stress – too dry or some such, but as we’ve had more rain than we know what to do with….. I think I’d pinch out, but it’s never happened to me before, either that or buy some replacements.

We’ve had some sun and lots of rain but they might be stressed, poor things! I think I’ll pick them now and eat them and try to find some more as you suggest. Thank you 🙂

I would love to try honeysuckle at my altitude. I miss having it about–I don’t care what color it is!! I also don’t get to garden as I used to do here but I would probably pinch that sprout off–not having grown it before. Is it supposed to do that?

I love the smell of honeysuckle. I will pinch them out but I don’t think they should be sprouting now. Promenade Claire suggests I get new plants so I’ll try to do that. 🙂

She is a Conservation Biologist and Ecologist! She has worked with white lions in South Africa and badgers here in the UK, vaccinating them against TB. A fascinating career! 🙂
