1 The train journey through English countryside: The Somerset Levels, The White Horse, springy little lambs, a Thelwell pony, flowers-in-a-boat on the station platform at Saltash, and above all, the vibrant green of the fields.

I come from a railroading family so I’m kind of addicted to the train. Fortunately, here in San Diego, I have the San Diego Trolly, Coaster, Sprinter, Metrolink, and Amtrak. I guess you know I spend a lot of time on the trains.

We did a fabulous train journey in your beautiful country last year. W first drove from Prescott( where my painter sister used to live) through wonderful country all the way to Denver and then took the train back to San Francisco – a truly amazing journey and train ride of 36 hours.
You are lucky to have so many trains to ride. We just have the Great Western to take us up to London! 🙂

Where are you that you had 5″ of snow in April?! Spring is lovely here but today there is a very cold wind, a big contrast to the 30* and balmy winds we experienced in Senegal last week.

We live in the mountains west of Denver, Colorado. Nothing is blooming up here! It is down in Denver though…the dogwood in my DIL & son’s yard is a mass of pink blooms. Just gorgeous 🙂

Jeannie, What a beautiful place to live, even if Spring is a little later. We visited Denver briefly last year having driven in from Prescott, Arizona (where my sister lived before leaving for Hawaii) through many of your beautiful National Parks including Estes in the Rockies and then we took the train back to San Francisco. On an earlier trip to see my brother in Atlanta, I remember being astounded by the beauty of the dogwoods – quite glorious and something we don’t really see here.
